NextEV NIO Formula E Team: Buenos Aires ePrix – The E Files

The third round of the 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship takes place this weekend in the South American city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The NextEV NIO Formula E Team will be in action with Nelson Piquet Jr and Oliver Turvey.

Nelson Piquet Jr (Car #3): “The break has given us time to work hard on improving, and we have done a number of simulator tests. Our ambition hasn’t changed from winning races; we know we need to climb up a few steps before being the best car and team out there but we’re working really hard. The Puerto Madero circuit is a twisty track, which is something that we enjoy. It’s a track I’ve raced on twice before, finishing on the podium in season one, so we will be working hard for a strong result.”

Oliver Turvey (Car #88): “This will be only the second time in Formula E that I have returned to a circuit, so I aim to use this experience to get a strong result for the team. The most exciting part of the track is the first couple of corners, with a fast left hander into a quick chicane leading on to the main straight. I really enjoyed Buenos Aires last season; I think it’s a great city and the track is one that I really enjoyed racing on. I think it was one of my strongest races last year and I’m looking forward to going back there and hopefully getting in the points.”

Gerry Hughes, Team Principal: “The Buenos Aires circuit is a unique track in a park setting, which brings its own challenges. The circuit is fast, bumpy and extremely dirty and the ambient conditions at this time of year in the Argentine capital present the teams with specific challenges from a thermal management perspective. We go to Buenos Aires with hopes of a strong qualifying performance, and we will have to see what our recent developments bring in the way of race performance come Saturday afternoon.”
