Digital Systems Group

Digital Systems is a cross-functional group that owns NIO's next generation communications and vehicle management architecture, situated at the center of 'first of next' technologies spanning connectivity, data systems, a smart assistant, autonomous driving and advanced safety.

What we work on (or what we own in the vehicle development)

· Modeling and simulating the vehicle environment

· Creation of tools for diagnosis, troubleshooting and validation

· Work with FW developers to identify, develop, document and maintain test automation stations and scripts.

· Write specifications, test plans, and user instructions for test equipment and test SW.

· Work with HW and FW developers to identify test needs such as type of test equipment required and schedules to match component deliverables.

· Final QA sign-off for vehicle features

The skills we are looking for….

We are looking for innovative engineers with strengths in the following areas. The team has a place for experts in one area, and generalists who span several areas.

Linux:

· Linux/Unix/POSIX tools, command-line techniques

· System administration, maintenance, performance profiling and logging

· Kernel knowledge, including processes, networking, file systems, inter-process communication

· Security, penetration testing

Networking, Connectivity, Data Systems:

· Wired interfaces: Ethernet, CAN, LIN

· Wireless interfaces: cellular, Wi-Fi, NFC, GNSS

· Network components including routers, switches, firewalls

· Protocols and communications, including MQTT, sockets

· Network configuration, troubleshooting and security

· Remote server configuration and management

· Low latency, high throughput applications

· High performance data systems

· Tools, including Wireshark, Netcat

Testing of Complex, Embedded Systems:

· Test planning and implementation

· Test automation, including frameworks such as Pytest, Robot framework

· Firmware integration feature and performance testing including negative, fuzz, overload

· Exploratory testing to find vulnerabilities and edge cases

· Continuous integration, such as Jenkins

· Data mining and statistics to capture insights from streaming and logged data from the complete vehicle

Software Engineering:

· Programming skills in Python, Bash, C/C++, Expect. Other languages as relevant.

· Architecture suites of software tools that are reconfigurable for use in different contexts, including interactive and automated, in vehicle and on-test-bench.

· RESTful APIs, SOA / micro-services architecture, server applications & back-end web frameworks.

· Database schema and queries for SQL, distributed and streaming data.

· Cryptography: chain of trust, access and data security

· Version control, such as Git

· GUI tools development

Requirements

BS / MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent

Ability to successfully and effectively work within a global team environment

Strong sense of ownership regarding tasks and responsibilities

CAN/LIN networks, including Linux can-utils, Python libraries: python-can, CAN tools
